A list of tools, projects, and resources that I find useful:

  • Twitter - 12 commandments for government employees - a nice guide for getting started with Twitter, covers the Dos and Don'ts and was a helpful reminder on how to conduct yourself in this dynamic environment.
  • VirusTotal is a free service that analyzes suspicious files and URLs and facilitates the quick detection of viruses, worms, trojans, and all kinds of malware.
  • Needed a tool to help with the location points for my photo gallery; found this tool very useful in finding the Latitude and Longitude coordinates: http://www.findlatitudeandlongitude.com/
  • I've been a big fan of Cold Fusion (CF) for years, having recently returned to developing in CF, I'm very impressed with the variety and quality of opensource projects avialable. It has been a great learning experience reviewing the code base of others and incorporating the works of others into this site. You can find a good list of CF projects on the ColdFusion Open-Source Project List
  • I'm a big fan of the work being done by the Cloud Security Alliance, the importance to Governance, Risk Management, and Compliance will be even more important as companies make the transition to the Cloud.
  • A very interesting tool called ikvmc that converts Java bytecode to .NET dll's and exe's. Don't have much to say about the product at this time, but the idea, if it works, should save a lot  of time in future development efforts.
  • Spybot - A useful tool that finds and Destroys spyware, malware, adware and other malicious software.
  • Speccy -  is an advanced System Information tool for your PC. Need to find out what's inside your computer? No problem! Speccy will give you all the information you need.
  • Defraggler -  use this tool to defrag your entire hard drive, or individual files - unique in the industry. This compact and portable Windows application supports NTFS and FAT32 file systems.
  • CCleaner -  is the number-one tool for cleaning your Windows PC. It protects your privacy online and makes your computer faster and more secure.
