I was born in Georgetown, Guyana, which to those of you that do not know is in South America, also considered part of the Caribbean although located on the main continent. I now live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada where I work for the province as a Business and Security Analyst. Spent the last 20 years focused on Internet based systems and technologies for our federal and province government and looking to share my insights on technology and business and learn for others.
Having watched the Internet evolve over the past to two decades has been not short of amazing. For someone like myself, that has a natural draw to abstract concepts, I knew that I had finally found my calling – Internet Systems and Applications. Worked a several years in the corporate world refining my skills and feel that I’m now ready for a change, nothing radical but just to work on type of systems and application I like to develop.
At that time, the Internet represented a completely new way of doing just about doing everything, much less business. The link to document metaphor combined with rich content (audio + video) created an entirely new economy that I am grateful now exists. Having worked in the industry for 15+ years now. This is my opportunity to contribute to an idea that has given me so much.
I believe we’re starting to see similar disruption with the likes of Facebook, Twitter, Google, Apple, and many others as they move to Mobile, Social, and Cloud based systems. The question is, “what are you doing to prepare for this new way of doing business?” In the coming months, I hope to share my thoughts and ideas, with hopefully some practical solutions for small businesses and on the go professional.
I’ve looked at the way web technologies and systems have evolved over the years, but rarely had time to do much of my own development. Spent many years in the corporate world looking to improve on processes and user experiences, now ready to share my thoughts and experiences through example projects.
